Warner Bros. and Legendary sent out a press release today sharing a few details on Godzilla’s next U.S. feature, which looks to bring in a whole crew of old monster favorites:
“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
Sounds like a good time. Michael Dougherty (Krampus) is directing, and some new faces will show up to presumably gawk as the giant monsters wreck the place: Vera Farmiga, and even Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things, in her first feature film.
Godzilla 2 (tentatively titled Godzilla: King of the Monsters) is looking at a March 2019 release. Godzilla will then face Kong in 2020. Of course, this is all leading up to the ultimate battle in 2025 – Godzilla vs. Gamera.
Well, it is in my universe, anyway.
