When Gozer arrived in this dimension, it commanded that we choose the form of the Destructor. That form, chosen by Ray Stantz during the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984, was that of a giant marshmallow man. The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
Now, I don’t know what’s going on in the above ‘Mini-Pufts Character Reveal” from Ghostbusters: Afterlife (it’s a little more Gremlins than Ghostbusters), but one quirk of Gozer’s manifestation, at least according to Ray’s theory in the 2009 video game, was that once its form was chosen in a dimension, it would always have that form in a dimension.
So Gozer’s Earth form will always and forever be the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
Does that mean these Mini-Pufts are a sign of Gozer’s return?
Who knows!
“Sweet. Mischievous. Savage. 🔥 Mini-Pufts are out of the bag, don’t miss #Ghostbusters: Afterlife only in theaters this fall.”
Ghostbusters: Afterlife has been in a constant state of potential release for a while, now, but word has it the long-awaited sequel will finally hit theaters on November 11, 2021.
Oh, and according to Nerdist, you’ll soon be able to pick up your own 1.5″ Mini-Pufts, sold in little buckets of marshmallow goo. Because of course!
