Good news, zombo fans: Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse is set to get a re-release on Xbox consoles next month.
The news comes courtesy True Achievements, who naturally got their hands on Stubbs‘ achievement list. The game’s original publisher, Aspyr Media, is behind the port. You may also know them from the Switch port of Civilization VI, as well as the re-releases of Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, and Episode I: Racer.
Let’s check out a low-res trailer for the old Stubbs:
Now, if you’ve never played 2005’s Stubbs the Zombie on the original Xbox, well, I haven’t either. But I did pick up the soundtrack back when it released. You’ve got Death Cab for Cutie performing Earth Angel. The Walkmen doing There Goes My Baby. And my personal favorite, The Raveonette’s take on My Boyfriend’s Back. It’s pretty good stuff.
As far as I know, the game is a bit on the rare side in the second-hand market, so seeing it get a re-release is pretty nice. What’s that? It’s not very good? Ah, that’s never bothered me before. The game’s got style, anyway.
Stubbs the Zombie will release again on Xbox consoles March 16, 2021.
Update: Stubbs will also release on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Looks like everyone’s invited.
