Out of left field comes this teaser trailer for a brand new Ghostbusters sequel, which seems to follow directly from the original 1984 and 1989 classics.
As Entertainment Weekly reports, Jason Reitman is set to direct and co-write the film, which is planned for a Summer 2020 release. “It is not a reboot,” Reitman assures, “What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
His father, Ivan Reitman, director of the original two Ghostbuster movies, will produce the third.
Meanwhile, story details are scant. Word has it they’re looking to cast four teenage leads, two female and two male. It’s possible this new sequel could veer more towards the late-90s cartoon Extreme Ghostbusters, but we’ll have to wait and see.
