[Trailer] Asteroids Recharged Brings New Art and Co-Op to the Atari Classic

Atari’s Recharged series has been bringing new life to their old classics, including Centipede and Black Widow. Next up: Asteroids.

“The original space shooter warps to the modern era! Asteroids: Recharged has been reimagined for modern gameplay, with vibrant visuals, powerful new abilities, and another original soundtrack from award-winning video game composer Megan McDuffee.”

The game also adds 30 new challenge levels, online leaderboards, and a slew of new powerups including rail guns and reflective shields.

Along with the above mentioned titles, Atari have also already released Missile Command Recharged, and have announced the one I know you’re truly looking forward to: Breakout Recharged. Each remake contains updated graphics, gameplay, and new music. Speaking of which, you can check out Megan McDuffee’s Bandcamp right over here — she also worked on River City Girls.

Asteroids Recharged will release December 16, 2021 on consoles and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store). It’ll also, of course, be available on the Atari VCS.
