Here’s an interesting Kickstarter project I saw floating around over at r/Horror.
It’s a feature called The Black Gloves, a 1940s film noir-style horror involving a mysterious mythological creature known as the Owlman. And I’ve got to say, I’d never heard of this Owlman before, but I’m intrigued now. From the project page:
“Inspired by the texts of ancient religion and Celtic/Eastern mythology, the Owlman has become an internet phenomenon. From his first outing in our micro-budget feature Lord of Tears to the many videos which have followed, the Owlman has captured the imagination of audiences around the world.”
The Black Gloves is directed by Lawrie Brewster, written by Sarah Daly, and stars Macarena Gomez, Jamie Scott-Gordon, and Alexandra Nicole Hulme. You can check out this video for some info on their inspirations and why they’re running this Kickstarter.
In short, they’re looking for funds to complete post production, as well as help out with marketing and promotion. But overall, from what I can tell of the film itself, things are looking pretty good. The cinematography in particular looks great.
They’ve nearly reached their goal. At the time of this posting, they have 23 days remaining. If you like, you can check out their Kickstarter page and contribute right over here.
