Konami unexpectedly dropped an announcement trailer for GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon, a sequel to the 1987 Nintendo Famicom game Getsu Fūma Den, only ever released in Japan. The trailer was highlighted today during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase.
“GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon combines intense roguelite hack-and-slash action with a stunning dark fantasy world, brought to life through the stroke of traditional Japanese art.
As the chosen leader and guardian of the land of the living, wield the otherworldy arsenal and powers of the Getsu clan as you descend deeper into the depths of Hell to eradicate the source of the cataclysm.”
The 2D roguelite, developed by GuruGuru and published by Konami, features stunning “Ukiyo-e inspired visuals” and a number of giant monstrous bosses, including a reanimated demon lord and five-headed hydra. And a centipede.
Very nice.
GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon will be available on Steam starting May 13, 2021, and Nintendo Switch some time next year.
