Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is still in theaters, but you know what we want? Even more Godzilla!
The Hollywood Reporter shared an exclusive scoop over the weekend that Dave Callaham, the screenwriter known for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will write the screenplay for Legendary’s next entry in the MonsterVerse. Callaham also worked on earlier versions of the Godzilla 2014 script.
According to Box Office Mojo, Godzilla x Kong currently sits at about $558 million worldwide gross, making it the second highest earning MonsterVerse film…for now. Altogether, this current crop of Godzilla and Kong films have earned a staggering $2 billion worldwide.

Despite coming in second, Godzilla x Kong is still in theaters, and may also reportedly end up the most profitable film so far, as it cost only $135 million. We’ll see how far it goes!
Godzilla x Kong is available to purchase on digital platforms beginning today, May 14th, 2024. It’s also been announced that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will receive a second season on Apple TV+.
