You want a game about cleaning up the aftermath of a Kaiju? The universe has heard your call, and decided to reward you with not one but THREE kaiju housekeeping games announced within the last month or so, coming out probably sooner than you’d think!
Kaiju Cleanup
These games aren’t really about cleaning up the destruction, though. What do you do with the giant kaiju carcass that’s just sitting there in the middle of a major metropolitan area? You can’t just leave it. The smell is awful!
So first up, we have Brightrock Games’ Kaiju Cleanup, which just released its announcement trailer last month. InfoBlast has the story up top, showing off some kaiju deconstruction along with a bit of satire sprinkled in.
If you want, you can request access to the Kaiju Cleanup Playtest on Steam, and there’s also some “Super-Duper Early Gameplay Footage” straight from the devs. “Any reasonable game developer wouldn’t be showing you this,” they say, but there it is! Brightrock’s previous games include War for the Overlord and Galacticare, which both have Very Positive reviews, so this might be one to watch!
Kaiju Cleaner Simulator
If you’re looking for what seems to be a more standard co-op simulator experience (if. you. know. what. I. mean.), Kaiju Cleaner Simulator might be for you. This one’s brought to us by developer One More Time, who previously released Tavern Manager Simulator last year.
Kaiju Cracking Corporation
Looking for some chill diorama Kaiju vibes instead? The universe is LITERALLY SPYING ON YOU right now, because Kaiju Cracking Corporation is not only set to release in January, it has a demo you can try out on Steam. Give it a go? Here’s some extended gameplay footage if you’d rather watch.
Choices, Choices
Kaiju Cleanup and Kaiju Cleaner Simulator were apparently both inspired by Kaiju No. 8, which just had an anime adaptation in 2024. Might they have been inspired by 2022’s What to Do With the Dead Kaiju? as well? Movies have had big twin releases like Deep Impact/Armageddon and Bugs Life/Ants. But with games? More people are making them now than ever. Get ready for quadruplet releases, and then octuplet releases! Sky’s the limit!
