Move over Godzilla? Or maybe Gamera? Raiga: God of the Monsters has been floating around for quite awhile, now, but finally made it onto DVD and Blu-Ray on April 14, 2020.
Reviews are mixed (check Amazon and you’ll find “Masterpiece” followed by “AWFUL MOVIE!!!!”), but what we’re really left with is, you know, a budget retro-style kaiju film complete with that most impressive of special effects, man in rubber suit. Check the summary:
“Global warming leads to excessive melting of the southern polar ice cap, disrupting Earth’s ecosystem. The receding ice brings long dormant ancient sea creatures back to life, monsters that set their sights on Japan. Among the kaiju is an enormous sea beast the locals refer to as the legendary Raiga.”
Raiga: God of the Monsters, is brought to us by director Shinpei Hayashiya and SRS Cinema, and originally released in 2009.
